Since the Olympics and Paralympics has finished I have been asked a few times if any of my clients have been inspired to take up a new sport or undertake a new fitness regime. Another question has been “have I seen an uptake in business since the olympics”.
I have to be honest here and say that, to my knowledge, so far the answer to both those questions is No. That is with the possible exception of myself, well kind of…………
As many of you know Bodyline Fitness is a sponsor of The Ealing Half Marathon and I have been training to take part in it myself, after many years of not running seriously.
During and, since, the olympics has finished I have to say that the performances from Team GB have been a real inspiration to me during my training. Like most people I dont like training and I have to have a goal in order to get myself out and running. However, the performance of our athletes has really inspired me to train harder than I have in a long while ( I only hope that is reflected in my time come the half mararthon!)
At certain points during my training runs I really feel like stopping and just getting on the bus but I find myself thinking “what would Mo do now?” the answer is, of course, carry on running Roy and speed up while you are at it!
So, I would really love to hear from you if the olympics and paralympic games have inspired you in any way; maybe you have made an extra effort to go the gym more often or taken up a new sport or activity?
Did you manage to go to any live events, and if so, which ones inspired you the most?
Also, if the games have had no impact on you at all, I would be very interested to hear from you as well.
Seb Coe has spoken many times of how the games should “inspire a generation” so let me know in the comments box below what effect the games have had on you or contact me via the website

Lovely blog – lovely sentiment – love the honesty. The Olympics did inspire me, however not to get up off the couch, but to be more community spirited and to encourage those who can and have potential to do more.
Hence I am mentoring a Young Person through The Prince’s Trust and taking part in the Save Ealing Hospitals campaign.
I will however go for a walk and cheer you on at the Half Marathon.
I have no doubt you will do Mo proud!

Thanks Fran,
Well done on your “mentoring work”, it shows how The Olympics can inspire people in different ways. Look forward to seeing you at the Ealing Half Marathon.
Let’s hope Mo appreciates my efforts!!
Good luck with the time on Sunday Roy, keep thinking about what Mo would do next!
I saw the men’s cycle road race and the Paralympic marathon and it was the latter that inspired me most. Watching blind men run 26+ miles with the aid of a guide (hats off to the guides too) and the wheelchair athletes made me realise that so much is possible with grit and determination.
The Olympics and Paralympics gave me real food for thought and have inspired me to write an e-book and a training course on lessons business owners can take from elite athletes. It certainly has been a great summer.
Thanks Glenda, I will certainly give it my best shot! The e-book on business lessons is a great idea; let me have a copy of that when it’s done.
